Molly McGregor Top Ten List

  1. Lily loved the bees. She was not afraid of them.
  2. Lily's successful plan to free Rosaleen and run away from T. Ray
  3. Lily's courage to ask August if she and Rosaleen could stay with her.
  4. Black Madonna's presence and what she did for Lily.
  5. Zach not caring about Lily's white skin or his black skin. He loved her anyway.
  6. May's hats. She was the most optimistic person all of the time except when a bug got squished or a hurtful word was said.
  7. The Daughters of Mary and their funeral for May
  8. The wall and what it did for May.
  9. Lily's courage to talk to August about her mother and what happened the day she died.
  10. Lily's courage to stand up to her father and never let him get to her despite the grits, peaches, and his attitude that she hated so much.
